New Video and New Fundraiser

Saturday: Test drive day

Saturday, we were taken to INTA, a track facility where we went to 4 sessions Driving Faster, Driving Safer, Driving Greener, Driving Smarter.

Here you see part of the Driving Safer: We went around cones and big balls, through slippery area and then got to try to make a GOAL with a huge Soccer ball...you have to run in to it first and then brake. Not what I'm used to doing, but I made a goal.



Here you see me before we went on the drive for the Driving Faster Portion. We had a professional driver in the car helping us as we drive fast. I certainly didn't come near the record in this competition, but it was fun to drive fast.

Trip to Spain

This is a catch up post, since I wasn't able to upload pictures to this area. We arrived in Spain on Friday February 18, 2011 and were met at the airport by people with Ford and transported to our hotel. We were given some information and then we had the opportunity for some rest. Later, that evening was the Ford Welcome dinner where we were served a nice dinner.

We Made it to Spain

Well, we have been in Spain for not quite 24 hours. I didn´t get to use the computer yesterday, but I have a few minutes now. Unfortunatly, I haven´t yet been able to figure out how to get a photo so maybe later! Today is the big test drive. I believe that we will be doing competitions and other fun stuff today. Definitely should be fun and different.

Two More Days....

Time is getting short now. Today I had some nervousness because I got an e-mail from some media people wanting information. I had been warned this might happen...so now I may end up in the newspaper or on the news...aaHHHH...Breathe deeply! OK, tell me, does this look like the kind of lady who receives $10,000 for a charity because of a video and goes to SPAIN to test drive a car??? I'm a HOUSE WIFE!

Ford put out a press release...have you ever read anything like this and realized you are one of the 100 people they are talking about????

One Week till Spain!

One week from tonight, I won't be here...I will be somewhere between my home and Madrid, Spain. I am very excited! We got our flight schedules and itinerary today. We will be flying into Minneaopolis, then on to New York and then to Madrid. We will leave Thursday morning and arrive in Spain Friday morning. After all the Ford activities are over, we will stay 2 extra nights so that we can see some things in Madrid and another city called Segovia. I am posting a picture of Segovia...it is beautiful!

VERY Interesting Hotel

Well, I got a little information about the trip to Madrid. We will be leaving in about 10 days (Feb. 17) and arrive in Madrid on the 18th. This is a picture of the Hotel, called the Hotel Silken Puerta America Madrid. Apparently each floor is different and it has very interesting modern artistic decor. If you like modern artistic decor, you should go see the website.

I must admit that this type of decor is not something that is my favorite, but I think it will be cool to see what they have done, which is very different than what you normally see in a Hotel.

Sharing the News!

It was over a week that I was contacted with the news that I would be able to participate as a finalist in the Ford Focus Contest that I entered in November. There are 2 really great things about winning this! Ford will be giving $10,000 to Love Without Boundaries for baby formula and it will be helping some of the nutrition programs we have. What great news for cuties like these! These two kids are in the Nutrition program at Huainan, Anhui where we need some funding, so this will be great! Since I heard today that approval was given for the charity, Love Without Boundaries, I shared the news publicly.

The second thing is I am going to Spain! I have never been to Spain-never been to Europe and now Darrell and I will be leaving in about 2 weeks to go to Spain. The 40 winners will get to test drive a 2012 Ford Focus. I read on the site that they come in 8 colors. I have driven a lot of white cars in my life and I really hope it is not white (that is one of the possibilities)...hmmm maybe Kona Blue would be nice.
